    Personal Statement

“Service is the purpose of life, it is the rent we pay for living on the planet.” —Marian Wright Edelman

The sacred doctor-patient relationship is an essential part of the healing process. Family medicine physicians are teachers, students, servants and healers of all people and the planet. We are the guardians of the galaxy.

The practice of family medicine touches every aspect of life. No topic is off limits. Physicians repair the world one patient, the whole patient, at a time. While repairing the world, we must also heal ourselves. Life dedicated in service of patients helps physicians “heal thyself.”

Family medicine is more than a career, it’s a love of humanity. Patients, our fellow physicians and our planet need us now, more than ever. It’s an honor to care for our patients and each other while repairing the world together.
