American Osteopathic Association (AOA) Agreement

American Academy of Family Physicians-certified CME Activities for American Osteopathic Association Credit

The American Osteopathic Association accepts the American Academy of Family Physicians Prescribed and Elective credit as AOA Category 2 credit:

• Category 2-A includes formal live, clinical educational programs that are AAFP approved.
• Category 2-B includes informal or non-live activities or activities that deal with non-clinical topics such as malpractice.
   

AAFP CME providers may use the following statement after the official AAFP credit statement only if AOA members will be attending the CME activity.

CME activities approved for AAFP credit are recognized by the AOA as equivalent to AOA Category 2 credit.

AOA-certified CME Activities

CME activities that have been approved for AOA credit and that have not been reviewed for AAFP Prescribed credit eligibility are recognized by AAFP for Elective credit. (1999) (April 2025 BOD)
