Learn practical, proven tips about common emergency and urgent care topics from a panel of 12 experts with the AAFP emergency and urgent care livestream CME event. This livestream event features faculty available in real-time to engage and answer questions from participants.

Course Directors

Vu Kiet Tran, MD, MHSc(Ed), MBA, CHE, ICD.D is a practicing family physician with two decades of experience as an emergency physician at the University Health Network in Toronto, Canada.

Alan Ehrlich, MD brings 40 years of medicine experience and is a practicing family physician in Worcester, MA. Ehrlich serves as Associate Professor in Family Medicine at UMASS Chan Medical School.

Format

Choose from up to six half-day sessions broadcast between May 13 and May 16. These sessions are exclusive rebroadcasts from the original October livestream. 

Two special live sessions presented by Dr. Tran on basic ECG interpretation and advanced ECG interpretation are also available.  Both sessions require a separate registration fee of $320.

  • Prepare treatment plans for patients who may require hospital inpatient care or referral to emergency departments, or urgent care for acute health conditions.
  • Assess the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients who may present with any number of conditions, including maternity, psychological, musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, respiratory or neurological care.
  • Incorporate emergency plans into practice, including written protocols and necessary equipment/tools for treatment.

The AAFP has reviewed Emergency and Urgent Care Livestream and deemed it acceptable for up to 32.5 Live AAFP Prescribed credits. Term of Approval is from 5/13/2025 to 5/16/2025. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

The AAFP is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The American Academy of Family Physicians designates this Live activity for a maximum of 32.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

CME activities approved for AAFP credit are recognized by the AOA as equivalent to AOA Category 2 credit.

Following this CME activity, participants will have the opportunity to earn an additional two Prescribed credits for participation in each Translation to Practice® exercise. Information on Translation to Practice® will be shared within the activity.
