Upon completion of this CME activity, you should be able to:

  • Identify contributing and reversible causes of cognitive impairment you can fix.
  • Identify causes of dementia and know when to strongly encourage additional evaluation. 
  • Advise families on advance care planning for dementia.
  • List medications to treat MCI and dementia.

The AAFP has reviewed Cognitive Care in Family Medicine Settings and deemed it acceptable for up to 1.25 Enduring Materials, Self-Study AAFP Prescribed credits. Term of Approval is from 1/31/2025 to 1/31/2028. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

AAFP Prescribed credit is accepted by the American Medical Association as equivalent to AMA PRA Category 1 Credits toward the AMA Physician's Recognition Award. When applying for the AMA PRA, Prescribed credit earned must be reported as Prescribed credit, not as Category 1.

CME activities approved for AAFP credit are recognized by the AOA as equivalent to AOA Category 2 credit.
