Heather Leith, JD, CAE

Heather Leith, JD, CAE, serves as general counsel and senior vice president. She joined the AAFP in 2013 as general counsel.

Leith leads the organization’s legal operations and also has responsibility for the management of the AAFP's Divisions of Administration and Human Resources.

Prior to joining the AAFP, Leith was assistant general counsel at Hallmark Cards in Kansas City, Missouri. Prior to that, she served as a law clerk to the Honorable Kathryn H. Vratil of the United States District Court for the District of Kansas and worked as an associate at Debevoise & Plimpton in New York.
 
Leith holds a Bachelor of Arts with honors in English from Grinnell College and a Juris Doctor degree from Yale Law School.
