April 27, 2019 12:00 pm News Staff Kansas City, Mo. – AAFP chapter delegates who attended the Academy's 2019 National Conference of Constituency Leaders held here April 25-27 elected colleagues to fill various leadership positions.
AAFP Board of Directors new physician member candidate: Brent Sugimoto, M.D., M.P.H., of Richmond, Calif. (Note: This candidate is to be approved by the 2019 Congress of Delegates in Philadelphia.)
New Physician alternate delegates to the AAFP Congress of Delegates: Alex Mroszczyk-McDonald, M.D., of Claremont, Calif.; and Moira Rashid, M.D., of San Francisco.
Member constituency alternate delegates to the AAFP Congress of Delegates: Roma Amin, M.D., of Columbus, Ohio; Nichole Johnson, M.D., of Charlotte, N.C.; Megan Mahowald, M.D., of Spring Lake, N.C.; Daniel Neghassi, M.D., of New York, N.Y.; Chetan Patel, M.D., of Columbus, Ga.; and Benjamin Silverberg, M.D., of Morgantown, W. Va.

The member constituency alternate delegates represent the following constituency groups: women; minorities; international medical graduates; and LGBT physicians or physicians who support LGBT issues.

2020 member constituency co-conveners: Carrie Pierce, M.D., of Klamath Falls, Ore., and Mahowald (women's constituency); Amin and Neghassi (minority constituency); Brenainn Flanagan, M.D., of Northport, N.Y., and Patel (IMG constituency); Mroszczyk-McDonald and Rashid (new physicians constituency); Johnson and Silverberg (LGBT constituency).

25 chapters sent full delegations to the 2019 NCCL, meaning all five member constituencies were represented by a chapter delegate. NCCL had 43 chapters represented with 162 chapter delegates. The total of 225 registrants included 135 new physicians and 105 first-time attendees.
In addition, 196 individuals attended the concurrent Annual Chapter Leader Forum.
