• How to find joy in medicine, one day at a time

    “To avoid burnout as a busy family physician, it is important to remind yourself each day of your mission and what brings you joy,” writes Barbara Stanford, MD, of Grand Rapids, Mich. “Developing strong relationships with the right team of physicians and staff can also make your day so much better.” As part of a huddle at the end of the day, Stanford’s team has found it helpful to ask, “What joy did you find in family medicine today?” She writes, “The discussion that follows helps us remember why we are here.”
