Resident and New Physician travel scholarships available

The AAFP will offer 10 travel scholarships in the amounts of $1,000 to eligible residents and physicians from their first year of residency up to their first seven years of practice. All checks are mailed post-conference. If you can’t attend the conference, you will forfeit your scholarship.

Requirements:

  1. You must be an AAFP member to apply. New or lapsed members may join here.
Note that it can take one week to process your membership. Please plan accordingly as late applications will not be accepted.
  2. You must be able to attend the entire conference (defined as from noon March 24 to noon March 26).
  3. You must register to attend by December 31, 2024.

Application Guidelines

  1. Have your contact information, including a personal email address, and AAFP member ID number ready before starting your application. Most organizations have firewalls that prevent you from receiving outside communications about your application.
  2. Give considerable thought to the essay questions. Draft your answers in a separate document and post a polished answer in the online application.
  3. The AAFP is committed to building a diverse workforce. If applicable, you can complete an optional essay to briefly describe how you identify as someone underrepresented in medicine.

Writing Tips

  • When writing your answers, keep in mind that hundreds of applications are received and reviewed by the judges.
  • Make your application stand out and try to avoid clichés.
  • The application is a chance for the judges to learn about you and your goals; you are encouraged to provide thoughtful and authentic answers.
