Description
The department of Family Medicine and Obstetrics/Gynecology at Broadlawns Medical Center are seeking a highly motivated and qualified applicant to fill the position of Fellow in their advanced obstetric program. The program’s mission is to provide well trained Family Medicine Obstetric providers for rural and underserved areas in Iowa, the United States and across the globe. The Fellow will have unopposed access to multiple Ob/Gyn physicians, FMOB physicians, and an opportunity to participate in cases in a very busy labor and delivery unit at Broadlawns Medical Center. The curriculum is adaptable pending on the needs of the community where the Fellow will later work. The Fellow will become comfortable with cesarean deliveries, operative vaginal deliveries, external cephalic versions, perineal repairs, high risk ob management in all phases of pregnancy, point of care ultrasound, newborn care, and women’s health care including gynecological procedures. In addition to excellent on campus training, the fellow will have opportunities to help with resident and medical student education, contribute to POCUS training, publish scientific papers, and to participate in international medical trips. Broadlawns Medical Center serves as the county hospital for one of the most populated and diverse counties in Iowa. It has served for multiple decades as a teaching hospital and Fellows will be expected to work and educate medical students and family medicine residents. All candidates will need to have completed a Family Medicine Residency and be Board Certified by the ABFM or board eligible. Fellows will receive a very competitive salary, health benefits, housing stipend and or a spot in the on campus resident housing. Applicants can send CV, letter of intent, and two letters of recommendation to Molly Pitts at mpitts@broadlawns.org. We will be accepting applications starting in July 2024 through the end of October 2024.
