Description
As a Hospice and Palliative Medicine fellow at Lehigh Valley Health Network, you’ll gain the experience and knowledge you need to ensure your career success, while learning in a vibrant, team-oriented environment. Our palliative care program strives for excellence and received the American Hospital Association “Circle of Life” award. We offer a full palliative care continuum, with both in-person and telemedicine options. You will have the opportunity to learn in a variety of settings: a multiple hospital-based inpatient consult service; a nationally recognized home-based service; a growing office-based practice; as well as a 10-bed inpatient unit and home hospice program. In addition, we offer a one-year continuity experience in hospice, during which you function as a hospice medical director for your own cohort of patients. This ensures your competency in the Medicare hospice regulations. The LVHN OACIS/Palliative Medicine team includes a rich mix of accomplished professionals and we consider our fellows to be a part of that mix. Our team culture embraces diversity, equality and inclusion and the value that each team member brings to the work, recognizing that we are all learners and educators. We strive to offer safe spaces to learn, grow and be challenged. By learning and practicing at LVHN, you will gain important experience within a progressive health network that is focused on innovation to support the patients we serve. LVHN was an early adopter of palliative care, as we had one of the first hospice inpatient units in the nation and have been a trailblazer in the community-based palliative care arena.
