Student Member to Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM) Board of Directors

Responsibilities

Term: August 3, 2024 – August 2, 2025. Candidates may be eligible for a second term.

• Engage in discussions to inform decisions made by the STFM Board of Directors (does not represent the AAFP)
• Is a member, with voting rights, on the STFM Board of Directors
• Is a member, with voting rights, on the STFM Medical Student Education Committee
• Serve as an ambassador for work to engage medical students in STFM activities and academic family medicine.
• Attend all STFM Board meetings and Medical Student Education Committee meetings during term as representative

Candidates for this position are elected at FUTURE. Candidates should plan to attend the conference, and be available for candidate orientation. Candidates are required to deliver a 2 - 3 minute speech and participate in Q&A.

Eligibility Criteria

• Demonstrated interest and involvement in family medicine interest groups, medical school, or state organizations as a student
  
• Must be in good academic standing
• Must be an STFM member or willing to join STFM immediately after being elected student representative

Time commitment away from medical school: Moderate to substantial (meetings, communication)

Travel: Yes

Funding: Provided by STFM for attendance at STFM meetings
