Jan. 9, 2024, News Staff — Family physicians have opportunities to see their own — or another member’s — outstanding efforts recognized by peers with several Academy awards for 2024, including a new award that honors members who have displayed outstanding teaching skills or developed cutting-edge teaching models.
Six of the awards, including some requiring letters of recommendation that may take time to secure, have March 1 nomination deadlines:
The AAFP Public Health Award, which recognizes members who have dedicated their careers to improving public health;
The John G. Walsh Award for Lifetime Contributions to Family Medicine, which honors individuals whose long-term dedication and effective leadership have furthered the development of family medicine;
The Humanitarian Award, which honors extraordinary and enduring humanitarian efforts by Academy members both within and beyond the borders of the United States;
Specific selection, eligibility and nomination details vary for these awards and are available on each award webpage.
Other awards with upcoming deadlines include the AAFP Award for Excellence in Graduate Medical Education, for which the nomination window has been extended to May 19.
