AFP has always offered readers a convenient way of earning CME credit. By simply taking the “Clinical Quiz” in each issue and sending in the quiz card, readers can rack up a substantial number of credit hours each year. Now AFP is making it even easier to earn credit. Instead of filling out a quiz card, fumbling with postage stamps and searching for a mailbox, members of the AAFP can earn CME credit by taking an interactive version of the quiz online. Although at this time only AAFP members can earn credit this way, other readers are welcome to take the quiz.
Next time you visit AFP's home page (https://www.aafp.org/afp/), you may want to give the quiz a try. Quizzes can also be accessed directly (https://www.aafp.org/afp/afpquiz.html). [Editor's Note: Each issue's quiz is only accessible for 12 months after the issue date.]
To take the quiz, click on the button for the issue you're interested in. Questions are answered by clicking on the circle or box next to the item that you select. If you need to research an answer, you can pull up individual articles or items from “Tips from Other Journals” by clicking on the title above the quiz question.
When you are done with the quiz, you can elect to have your quiz graded. Your answers will be compared with the correct answers, and you will be given a total score. Answers can be changed up until the time they are submitted for credit. AAFP members who are ready to submit their answers for credit can then select the “Submit for Credit” button. You will be asked to supply your member ID number, your password (your last name in all capital letters) and a little bit of additional information.
Of course, if you still want to send in a quiz card, that's fine too. Each year we receive hundreds of thousands of quiz cards, and our staff members will still be available to process your quiz cards and record your CME hours. Nonmembers must continue to submit quiz cards for CME credit.
