Am Fam Physician. 2004;69(10):2322-2324
The patient information handout “Prostate Cancer” (February 1, 2004, page 619) contained an inaccurate wording of the American Cancer Society’s screening guidelines. Under the heading “Who should be screened?” on page 620, the first two sentences in the second paragraph should state “Doctors do not agree on whether screening is needed for men who are not at high risk. The American Cancer Society recommends that doctors offer prostate cancer screening every year to most men older than 50 years after talking with them about the advantages and disadvantages of the screening tests.” The online version of this handout has been corrected.
