Why did you choose family medicine?

Being involved with the entire family unit, from newborns to grandparents, is very satisfying.

What have you done to keep your work interesting?

I love academic family medicine. I practice part time, teach part time and have some time for scholarship. For me, the scholarship time involves thinking and writing about my practice of medicine, which I really appreciate.

What is the greatest challenge you face in your practice?

Being able to provide patient-centered care in limited time.

What's the kindest thing a patient has ever said to you?

That I made a difference in her life.

What do you like to do when you're not working?

I have two boys, so I spend a lot of time going to their sporting events. My husband and I love to travel, and I also cook, knit and do yoga.

Where did you spend your last vacation?

San Francisco.
