I take issue with Dr. Marker’s statement in “Marcus Welby and the Medical Home” [Opinion, November/December 2008]: “For now, the people who pay us hold the keys. Until they see quantifiable quality, the bank is locked.” Please, let’s not kid ourselves. The bank will remain locked despite quantifiable quality because the people who own the bank are more concerned about the contents of the bank than the quality of health care.
